September 30, 2002

STAMFORD, Conn. -- W&M Construction's fourth annual Charity Golf Classic raised $5,000 for the Fairfield County Chapter of the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, according to company President Thomas P. Durels. The Society's mission is to cure leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin's disease and myeloma, and to improve the quality of life of patients and their families. Since its founding in 1949, the Society has provided more than $240 million for research specifically targeting blood-related cancers. September is Leukemia and Lymphoma Awareness Month. "Our company is very grateful for its success, and this is one of several ways that we to give back to the community that has given so much to us," says Mr. Durels.

Beneficiaries of previous Golf Classics were the ACE Mentor Program, which provides scholarships for high school students interested in architecture, construction and engineering, and Target Autism Genome. W&M Construction is also an annual sponsor of Rebuilding Together, which renovates homes for the needy.

W&M Construction's invitational golf event, held Sept. 12 at the Sterling Farms Golf Course, drew about 125 participants, including clients of W&M, architects, engineers, real estate brokers, subcontractors and vendors. "We are gratified by the response to this year's event and pleased to be able to provide funding to help find a cure for these blood cancers, " says Timothy W. Yahn, senior vice president of W&M Construction.

W&M Construction, based in Stamford, is a full service general contractor, with 35 employees and $25 million in annual revenues. W&M Construction operates throughout Fairfield and Westchester Counties and surrounding areas. W&M Construction is an affiliate of W&M Properties, the real estate management, marketing and acquisition arm of the Malkin family, which has commercial and residential operations in eight states.
