W&M Construction Finishes Fast-Track Construction Of New World Headquarters for American Institute for Foreign Study
March 2, 2000
STAMFORD, Conn. -- W&M Construction recently completed a fast-track build-out of the new 38,000-square-foot world headquarters for the American Institute for Foreign Study, now housed on two floors at 9 West Broad Street, according to Thomas P. Durels, president of the firm.
The architect for the $1.5 million project was Granoff Associates, Greenwich, Conn.
AIFS, which promotes cultural and educational exchange programs for high school and college students, relocated its 150-member staff from Greenwich because it needed larger quarters, according to Judith H. Monson, AIFS's executive vice president and chief operating officer.
The installation was completed on schedule, according to W&M Construction Vice President Timothy Yahn.
"W&M was always very accommodating," says Ms. Monson. "It was a pleasure to deal with Tim Yahn and his colleagues from the initial interview. We were so impressed with their professionalism and the thoroughness of their presentation that we awarded them the job on the very next day."
The complex installation encompassed state-of-the-art workstations with computers equipped for high-speed Internet access, audio-visual equipment and a security system.
